Postmortem
March 12, 2008
Today I helped care for a patient postmortem. Some of the nurses and my instructor were worried that I would feel weird about touching a dead body it but it was strangely settling. At first when I found out one of our patients had expired that morning I felt really weird, but once I stepped in the room with him I felt fine. That probably makes me some kind of wacko, but I just thought it was nice to see him laying there so peacefully after having gone through so much pain and unpleasantness.

Dead bodies creep me out, but I am scared of sharks too so…
I am glad there are people like you who aren’t creeped out by it, otherwise there would be some real problems. I don’t even like open casket funerals, that is why I think I should die rolling down a giant mountain in my jeep, that way there wouldn’t be a chance for an open casket.

It’s kinda surreal, isn’t it?
